Marnae Sheffield
Marnae is the promotions manager on the Empowerment Tour. Ten years of experience in special events and promotions, public relations, account service and corporate communication has given her the vision and ability to see the big picture. Marnae graduated with a BA in Communications from the University of Colorado, and still calls Colorado her home. Marnae has a true passion for planning events. She is excited to be part of the Empowerment Tour to help raise awareness in communities across the nation about the importance of education. “It feels great to be a part of a campaign that can truly help people better their life and find new direction.
Joe Ashby
Joe is a Tampa, FL native who is the Empowerment Tour RV Driver and a vital member of the crew, performing many managerial duties associated with the tour. Joe has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & Sociology and received a Master of Business Administration online from Saint Leo University. Joe is proud to have served fifteen years in the United States Air Force where he held a variety of positions, including protective services for the Commander of U.S. Central Command and Flight Chief and Trainer. Following his service in the Air Force, Joe worked as the Location Manager in Pennsylvania for Hertz. Joe is happy to be part of the Empowerment Tour, since he knows firsthand what it takes to get an online degree. “I know how difficult it can be to juggle your family, your job, and still find time to go back to school as an adult. Finishing my master’s degree online was the perfect solution for me, and I hope to help other adults do the same throughout this tour.”
Trey Burns
Trey is the photographer and videographer for the Empowerment Tour and is an integral part of the team. Originally from Atlanta, GA, Trey holds a Bachelor of Arts from Limestone College, as well as a Master of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art & Design. He primarily works as a contemporary artist but also lends his skills as a freelancer. Britt Bertolucci Cao
Britt hails from Seattle, Washington, and is the girl behind the tiny computer. She is managing the tours outgoing communications via Twitter and The Empowerment Tour Blog. Britt has been a social media manager for clients such as LiT LLC., Connected Threadsa subsidiary of Tiffany Miller Designs, Statements Distinctive and Stone and is a contributor to the green living blog Chic Ecologist and FSID Blog. She holds a BA in journalism from Seattle University, a Public Relations masters certificate from University of Washington, and is a Dale Carnegie School of Business graduate.
Roxanne Sedlak-Haydon
Roxanne is originally from Winlock, Washington. She recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Global Studies from the University of Washington-Tacoma. On the Empowerment Tour, you can find Roxanne helping people navigate the Career Stimulus Package website and application process, as well as helping the entire crew make sure the day runs smoothly in each city. Roxanne joined the Empowerment Tour to help adults gain the confidence they need to return to school. Roxanne hopes to inspire and assist people she meets along the tour.
Trevor Wong
Trevor Wong graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Political Science. During the 2008 election, Trevor worked for the Sierra Club in Denver. His main role on the Empowerment Tour is to create and manage the tour’s social media networks, a key component of the campaign.
