Distance Learning at Fordham University

"Distance learning is a venue consistent with the hallmarks of a Fordham education. Personal attention can be transferred to wherever our students are: in the classroom, in the dormitories, in their homes…and in international countries."

Stephen Freedman, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President/Chief Academic Officer

Founded in 1841, Fordham is the Jesuit University of New York, offering exceptional education distinguished by the Jesuit tradition to approximately 14,700 students in its four undergraduate colleges and its six graduate and professional schools.

About Fordham's Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education

Fordham University established the Graduate Institute of Religious Education in 1968, and raised it to the status of a Graduate School in 1975 with expanded goals and programming. In cooperation with all denominations, this Graduate School seeks to serve religion and religious education through research. While it is thus committed to help chart future directions, it also confronts the contemporary problems of church communities.

People of all religious backgrounds are welcome, whether as matriculated degree students or as visiting non-matriculates from other institutions. Candidates for degrees come from all over North America as well as from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, South America, and the Pacific Rim.

Fordham University's Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education (GRE) is committed to cultivating academic competence, scholarly research and ministerial skills in religious education and pastoral studies. In accordance with its Catholic, Jesuit tradition, GRE encourages students to integrate academic knowledge with personal wisdom, and to serve the church and society as committed and compassionate leaders.
