Online Learning

As an online student your campus is the World Wide Web; you are only one mouse click away from your seat in class!

Distance learning is education delivered to locations away from the classroom. Distance learning can supplement or replace traditional classroom education through the use of instructional television, computer or Web-based training, and numerous other technologies. Distance learning makes professional development accessible to students who work during traditional classroom hours. Through flexible learning schedules, students can learn at their own pace and at a time and place that is convenient for them. Distance education also makes learning accessible to the disabled and others who are not able or cannot afford to come to a traditional college campus for their education.

Students agree that they have more faculty support within the online "virtual" classroom of this program than experienced in on-campus classrooms. Content is delivered online and to your door in CD or DVD multimedia presentations and textbooks.

Convenience and Accessibility

Mountain State University offers online courses and degrees through WebCT, or Web Course Tools. WebCT is a home site for online courses and has tools on it that allow students to access course information, communicate with their instructor and other students, and complete and submit assignments. All of our online programs are specifically designed to allow students who work during traditional classroom hours the opportunity to earn their degree without interrupting their personal commitments. Our convenient online format allows you to experience all the benefits of traditional classroom learning, including the personal interaction with your classmates and instructors, from the comfort of your own home.

  • Student Convenience Mountain State University's online degree format allows students to experience all the benefits of a traditional classroom setting including personal interaction with instructors and classmates, all from the comfort of their own home. Students may login at whatever hour is most convenient to them. There are NO scheduled login times!

During each 16-week semester you complete a sequence of two classes every eight weeks. This approach qualifies you as a full-time student for financial aid purposes while still allowing you to focus your studies and manage your time without juggling assignments and projects from multiple classes. Most online students spend 10 to 20 hours a week on their studies.

Several other points to consider:

  • Affordable Tuition — Mountain State University offers one of the least expensive tuition rates of any online college. As a Title Four School we participate in Federal Financial Aid (PELL Grants and Stafford Loans).
  • Regional Accreditation — MSU is regionally accredited by the The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Regional accreditation means that your credits will be recognized nationwide.
  • Faculty — Academically credentialed and real-world experience.
  • Enrollment Coordination — As an online student with MSU you will be assigned an individual Enrollment Coordinator who will be your main point of contact with the University. Your E.C. will make you feel right at home with MSU!

Mountain State University's Online Degree Program offers a format that will exceed your student requirements. An education is one of the most important investments you will ever make. MSU knows that you are giving great consideration on where to make that investment. We take that responsibility seriously.
