This is a place for personal growth, for the ongoing development of responsibility, and for eye-opening opportunities in law, academics, research, and public service. Environmental Law Center

Vermont Law School ranked a Best Law School for 2011 by U.S. News & World magazine

Vermont Law School has the largest and deepest environmental program of any law school. Since we established the Environmental Law Center in 1978, we have been training people to be environmental leaders in government, nonprofits, corporations, and private practice — locally, nationally, and internationally. With the largest graduate environmental law program in the country, the ELC has always been top-ranked by U.S. News & World Report for 19 years running.

VLS offers two online degree options that will equip you with the expertise to address the increasingly complex environmental issues we face as a society.

The online Master of Environmental Law and Policy is designed to give both law and nonlaw students a deep knowledge and understanding of the policies and laws shaping global environmental solutions and prepare you as a real-world agent of change.

The online LLM in Environmental Law is developed for post-JD attorneys seeking to specialize in the practice of environmental law and lead the movement to shape global environmental law and policy.

The Online Classroom

Vermont Law School uses Moodle as the platform for its courses. The online format is designed to deliver a robust educational experience that is flexible and accessible for professionals who need to continue working while completing their degree.

Moodle provides a foundation for community-based learning that seamlessly incorporates tools for collaboration as well as housing course materials such as videos, e-Books, and assignments. Class times are asynchronous, though students should expect that individual instructors will establish academic expectations for each course. Students enrolled in the online programs will have 24/7 access to their online classroom from any computer connected to the Internet.
