DBA - Marketing

Develop the advanced skills and knowledge to lead organizations, provide strategic marketing advice, or educate the next generation of marketing professionals. Deepen your understanding of marketing concepts, theories, and research through real-world application, while improving your ability to influence others and drive results. This online doctoral specialization in marketing features a comprehensive core curriculum of research, strategy, leadership, and ethics, plus intensive coursework that emphasizes the global nature of business, the role of media and technological integration in marketing strategy and execution, and the many ways that culture influences consumer marketing.

With your DBA in Marketing from Capella, you'll have the skills to conduct research that makes contributions to the marketing profession and body of knowledge, evaluate marketing opportunities and challenges to consumers in diverse cultures, and apply an ethical framework to marketing issues. Additionally, you'll be able to appraise marketing theories, concepts, and strategies and conduct consumer and organizational marketing research in order to evaluate needs and wants and improve product and market characteristics.

You'll also have the opportunity to participate in Capella's international experience. This optional trip is designed to provide multinational networking, increased cultural literacy and global operations learning experience.

Online courseroom discussions, specially designed networking sites, and face-to-face weekend residencies provide ongoing opportunities to build professional relationships and share knowledge with other business leaders around the country. A prescribed course sequence, built-in dissertation milestones, and supportive mentoring create a clear path toward completing the program in 3 years.

Common jobs with an online DBA in Marketing include chief marketing officer (CMO), chief executive officer (CEO), VP of marketing, consultant, director or brand management, senior marketing manager or faculty member. Potential workplaces include: corporation, consulting firm, community college, land-based or online university, government agency or nonprofit organization.
