| Description: |
(From Community Health Nursing, Hitchcock) Health was once defined as "living a long life" or as "the absence of disease." However, health is increasingly viewed as a cultural concept defined in various ways according to cultural beliefs. The goal of this course to provide nurses with an overview of factors that influence health status. Recommendations related to diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management, and alternative/complementary therapies used to promote health and prevent disease are discussed. Also explored are the clinical applications to nursing practice of disease prevention and health promotion in the community. |
