The course covers: History and context of Poverty, Definitions of Poverty, and Developing eligibility. The term Social exclusion was used primarily in Europe in the 1980’s and adopted here in the late 1990’s to explain and describe a concept perceived as a serious issue in the UK. When new Labour came to power in 1997 one of the first initiatives to follow was the introduction of the Social Exclusion Unit. |
