This course provides an introduction to some of the world's most influential moral and ethical theories. In this class we will consider how such theories define basic moral concepts such as right/wrong, good/bad, and just/unjust and how they might be applied to contemporary moral issues. Theories that are covered include Utilitarianism, Kantianism, Relativism, Natural Law Theory, and Social Contract Theory. The course is writing-intensive and requires extensive participation.
