Herbal Materia Medica II is a core requirement for the Master Herbalist Diploma, continuing your study of herbal materia medica. This course studies the major active constituents and their therapeutic actions of the herbs studied: diaphoretics, emmenagogues, expectorants, nervines, antispasmodics, tonics, stimulants, antiseptics, and hepatics. Your course materials include access to the interactive, instructor-led, online classroom. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to identify the major active constituents and their therapeutic actions of the herbs studied: Diaphoretics, emmenagogues, expectorants, nervines, antispasmodics, tonics, stimulants, antiseptics, and hepatics; describe appropriate cautions and contraindications for the herbs studied, including potential herb/drug interactions; utilize principles of natural therapies to enhance your holistic protocol skills in clinical practice, health care education programs, or retail environments; find and discuss current research on therapeutic uses of the herbs studied; ascertain the appropriate dosage for each of the preparation of the herbs studied; and describe and prepare appropriate preparations for each of the herbs studied.

Admissions requirements include a HSD or GED, commitment to recommended study time and recommendation for admission at the completion of the admissions interview. Herbal Materia Medica I (Herb 302) or equivalent is a prerequisite. |
Credits: |
3 credits. Graduates will be awarded the Certificate in Herbal Materia Medica II. Awards elective credit to the Diploma in Holistic Health Practice program. |
