Herbal Studies is designed for students interested in increasing their knowledge of holistic health, herbal medicine, and nutrition to improve their health and that of their family as well as move forward with advanced herbal training and choose a career in the holistic health industry if desired. Your course materials include access to the interactive, instructor-led, online classroom. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to use and understand the language of herbal therapeutic actions from alteratives to vulneraries; use forty medicinal plants with confidence, including chamomile, dandelion, echinacea, evening primrose, garlic, ginger, gingko, red clover, and st john's wort; relate types of herbs to the system they most affect; identify key components of protocols for a healthy lifestyle, including potential problem areas; identify and use herbal and nutritional support for good health; know when not to use home remedies; create herbal blends and products, from ointments to fomentations; discuss the history of herbal medicine; and describe why herbal medicine works, with reference to the active constituents of herbs.
