Course Title:
Historical Themes ST: The History of U.S. Latin American Relations - Grad - Spring
School:
University of Nebraska at Kearney
Description:
This University of Nebraska at Kearney course spans from James Monroe in 1823 to Hugo Chavez in 2007. United States Americans and Latin Americans have challenged one another with sometimes complementary but more often conflicting understandings of what the Americas are and how the American nations relate to each other. This course will outline the foreign policy foundations of the US-Latin American relations, analyze the intellectual rationalizations for these, deconstruct both of these through a critique of historical case studies of specific foreign policy events, and offer a hypothesis for understanding contemporary affairs through an historical analytical approach.
