But for Kate Morgan, an Allentown, Pennsylvania-based webmaster, IT supervisor, graphic designer and photographer, she's found Savannah College of Art and Design's e-learning program to be just as fabulous. The school is based in Savannah, Georgia, and with the help of the Internet, she can attend from her home in the Northeast.
The 36-year-old mother of one was searching for a degree in interactive design and game development. She nearly settled for an MBA to obtain a higher degree that she thought would be useful.
The Master of Arts Degree In Interactive Design and Game Development that she is pursuing helps to prepare students for careers in interactive art and design, particularly with large design firms, advertising agencies, product manufacturers and education.
"When I found SCAD Online, I knew this was what I wanted to do. No regrets!" says Kate enthusiastically. "I really feel like I have learned a lot in my classes and I use that knowledge daily in my job. SCAD caters to exactly what I do."
Things have improved at work since Kate began pursuing her degree, which she expects to finish up sometime in Spring 2007.
"My boss has given me more responsibility and academic project management," says Kate. "Additionally, I am eligible to teach at the university level and will be teaching credit classes very soon."
