Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study - Educational Leadership

At University of New England the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Leadership is designed for K-12 educators who are considering school administration. These courses are harmonized to the national standards set by the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium (ISLLC) and offer entry-level knowledge and skills for beginning school administrators. Teachers will be introduced to the theories and practices of successful leadership centering on the significance of team building, decision making, problem solving and strategic planning. Within these areas, focal point is placed on management and assessment of workforce, the legal setting and analysis skills to infer possible legal issues within the school, budget expansion and expenses, and organization theory particularly as it relates to adjustment. Additional courses in Educational Leadership are available for further study. Total course hours is 15.

Students must have a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; a valid license or certificate to teach and a minimum of one year teaching experience; currently be employed as a teacher or have access to a classroom on a regular basis.
