Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study - Literacy (K-12)
At University of New England the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Literacy (K-12) is designed for those K-12 educators whose aspiration is to probe deeper into the meaning of reading and writing for all students to be triumphant. Present research and theory are translated into practice with each and every class. Teachers will be coached to realize these strategies and join contemporaries on-line to evaluate the conclusion. Additionally, assessment in literacy will be linked to next steps in connecting data to teaching practice. Study skills and literacy interventions that can be used within the content area will be explored. In short, the basic principle of this concentration is that literacy skills are vital for all students to thrive, so how do we transform what the research indicates to inform practice. Total course hours is 15.

Students must have a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution; a valid license or certificate to teach and a minimum of one year teaching experience; currently be employed as a teacher or have access to a classroom on a regular basis.
