UMUC's Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies provides an interdisciplinary overview of the history, business, economics, politics, and culture of the Asian/Pacific region. It examines that region's rich past and continuing contributions to the global community. The curriculum reflects this commitment to cultural awareness and scholarly analysis within the format of Asian life and influence.

Students who graduate with a major in Asian studies will be able to demonstrate: an understanding of the historical and cultural dimensions of Asia; effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, within the sphere of Asian economic, political, cultural, and historical developments; knowledge of Asian social, political, and economic structures and their local and global influences; fluency in technology appropriate for research, study, and communication in relation to Asian studies; competence in an Asian language; and knowledge of ethical and social responsibility issues within an Asian context. This degree requires 120 credits of coursework to complete.
