If you are a mid- to senior-level professional in business, government, or higher education, you will acquire advanced theoretical and practical knowledge and leadership skills that will position you as an expert in your field. This doctoral degree is taken online with required residencies and explores how various areas of business interrelate in modern organizations. Students must complete a minimum of 48 credits of coursework, the dissertation, and required comprehensive exams. No transfer credits are accepted.

Successful completion of a 3-credit prerequisite course is required prior to admission to the program. This requirement may be waived if the applicant submits a GMAT score of 650 or higher or has already completed a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, JD).
On Campus Requirement:
While the majority of coursework is completed online, students must also participate in some mandatory residencies—onsite course meetings—at the UMUC headquarters in Adelphi, Maryland. These residencies are generally scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays.
