SJVC's Administrative Health Care Management program provides in-depth training for the front office position of a busy medical practice or facility. Hands-on experience and classroom instruction include the study of office management, patient record-keeping, bookkeeping and accounting, and professional communication. You will learn and gain skills in medical insurance principles, medical terminology, medial laws & ethics, medical office billing & records software, HIPPAA regulations, general psychology, and computer skills & concepts.

Well-trained health care management professionals are in demand by busy medical and dental offices, hospitals, clinics, laboratories, billing offices, insurance companies and medical supply distributors. You can expect to qualify for roles such as: front office medical assistant, customer service representative, medical coder, and more.

Graduates earn an Associate of Science degree or Certificate, are student members of the Academy of Professional Coders and are eligible for certification as a Medical Records Coder after one year of practice in the field. Graduates are also eligible for membership in several nationally recognized professional organizations. These professional associations offer a variety of national certification and credentialing examinations such as Certified Coding Associate (CCA); Certified Professional Coder (CPC); and Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
