Master of Science in Information Technology - Security Management
The Master of Science in Information Technology with a specialization in Security Management is designed for students with a desire to develop professional skills in the main functional area of security management. Protecting the assets and information of an organization's vital enterprise computing infrastructure continues to be an area of large and growing concern. This concern gains greater momentum in the face of mobile and cloud computing.
What You Will Study:
Specialization coursework in this program focuses on a number of substantive areas applicable to the area of security management. Course content has been designed to help students develop the ability to architect, plan, design, implement, monitor and manage suitable computer security systems for such an enterprise. For example:
- In Operating System Security, students focus on the development of a security policy and the basic elements that provide identification and authentication, access control and security auditing. Both the UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems are studied.
- In Security Management, students study a variety of issues relating to the management of information systems security, including the development of policies, standards and procedures, risk analysis methodologies, contingency planning and disaster recovery.
Other specialization courses in the MSIT/Security Management program include:Digital Forensics, Data and Applications, Security and Security Management. Successful completion of the MSIT program with a specialization in Security Management will provide students with an applicable foundation of business-related knowledge and skills.
