The purpose of the distance education Working Professional Doctor of Pharmacy degree program is to educate pharmacy practitioners to become proficient in the delivery of pharmaceutical care. This requires a thorough understanding of pathophysiology and therapeutics; application of skills to educate, counsel, monitor and conduct patient follow-up; the motivation to sustain competency; and an economically viable mode of practice. Graduates of the Working professional Doctor of Pharmacy program will perform functions consistent with the elements described in the categories for patient care functions and education of health professionals and the public published in the Standards of Practice established by the American Pharmaceutical Association/American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Pharmacists who complete this program will meet the same terminal performance objectives as students who complete the College’s ‘traditional’ Doctor of Pharmacy program.
