Master of Education - Special Education

NCU's online Master of Education (MEd) program is suited to learners who want to combine a strong understanding of current theory and practice in education and/or organizational leadership with their personal needs and career focus. The Special Education (SE) specialization is designed to prepare graduates to teach and work with individuals with various types of disabilities. The specialized curriculum prepares learners to teach students with mental, physical, behavioral and learning disabilities, as well as work in a variety of related fields. The course offerings within the SE specialization covers a wide spectrum of issues relating to individuals with disabilities, including the development and characteristics of learners, individual learning differences, instructional strategies, social development, and language development. The curriculum encompasses learning environments, instructional planning, assessment, professional and ethical practices, and collaboration.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from an accredited or approved institution. The equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree is 120 semester credits of college level coursework, including a minimum of English composition I and II and a college-level math course.
