The Master of Science in Health Informatics emphasizes the analysis, implementation and ongoing management of the critical factors that impact the successful selection and use of health care information technologies. This online degree program equips students with an academic foundation in health information sciences and the practical tools necessary to apply this knowledge. UIC graduates are prepared for a wide range of roles at mid-to-high management levels in the health care information setting. This program is rooted in social informatics. The curriculum embraces the behavioral perspectives of individuals, groups and organizations as they interact within the contexts of health care information systems and supporting technologies. Our faculty draw upon their research knowledge and expert real-world experience to provide students with a quality education. They are actively involved in continued research, trade associations and health care IT related projects at the UIC Medical Center and other health care organizations.

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college; Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the final 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate study and all cumulative graduate course work previously taken; Prior academic work must include a course in basic computing skills (or comparable experience) and one course in graduate-level basic statistics taken within the last five years. The latter may be taken upon matriculation. No GRE Required!
