Degree Title:
RN to BS - Nursing (Degree Completion Program)
College:
University of Mary
Description:

National nursing education agencies are recommending that the nurse workforce hold baccalaureate or higher degrees in order to meet the increasingly complex demands of today’s health care environment. In addition, many hospitals and health care facilities that don’t already require a BS degree in nursing have established “BSN/BS-preferred” policies for new employees. The University of Mary RN to BS program allows experienced nurses greater opportunity for career advancement.

This program of study allows licensed RNs who have completed an associate degree in nursing to earn a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing. Students must prove successful completion of all prerequisite courses prior to admission to the Division of Nursing. Nursing courses include Dimensions for Professional Nursing Practice, Pathophysiology, Research, Ethics, Law & Policy, Health Promotion & Support, Nursing Leadership & Management, and Management of Critical Health Problems, along with a 120-hour practicum. In addition to the nursing coursework, 56 semester hours of liberal arts courses are required.
