This multidisciplinary 18-credit graduate certificate program identifies effective solutions to complex fisheries management challenges at local and international levels. Participants will acquire and practice skills in biology, economics, law and social science as they deal with these issues that impact and cross a wide range of perspectives and disciplines, including the emerging areas of rights- and ecosystem-based fisheries management.

The program will prepare students to be the link between scientists, decision-makers and stakeholders when handling multi-faceted issues that come with managing commercial fisheries. The certificate program explores curriculum in a variety of areas emphasizing critical-thinking, problem-solving and implementation. Designed to accommodate the needs of fisheries students as well as private, industry, agency, non-governmental organization professionals, participants will be able to instantly apply techniques learned to complete their daily work duties.
