Strategies for Conflict Management is the third 8-week online course in the Executive Certificate in Negotiation track. This course focuses on the critical skills associated with handling difficult people and situations, highlighting the kinds of negotiation and influence processes that yield optimal outcomes and relationships intact. You will examine ways in which professionals mediate contested disputes and learn ways to effectively manage disputes among colleagues or subordinates. This course will help you to improve your own performance during confrontations and improve your approach to working with conflicts. Key topics include: avoid or confront, core skills for handling difficult people and situations, handling deadlines and ultimatums, options and implications associated with conflict management strategies, understanding your "default" strategies, tools for reducing hostility and rescuing difficult situations, intervening as a manager in conflicts via mediation and arbitration.
