Denalerie Johnson Ph.D., EVP of Workforce Development for Dress for Success Worldwide

Denalerie J. Johnson, Ph.D. (ABD) is a part of the gender parity development movement and serves as the Executive Vice-President of Workforce Development for Dress for Success Worldwide, an international non-profit organization. She is responsible for promoting economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help women thrive in work and life. Denalerie and the DFS family helps low-income women gain employment and maintain self-sufficiency on a global level.
A Texas native with a background from various national non-profit groups, she has broken barriers and became a pioneer as the youngest director, the only woman of color, etc. Denalerie sits on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for JusticeWorks, Inc, emphasizing alternatives to incarceration for women with children. She is also a member of the Black Women for Black Girls giving circle that seeks to amass knowledge and financial resources that will support organizations committed to the empowerment of black girls in New York City and she newly serves on the Board of the State of New Jersey’s WIA Employment & Training Division’s WIB Barriers to Employment Committee. She is an advocate for equal opportunity and supports employment retention initiatives for people of color, disabled and LGBT communities.
Denalerie is recognized as one of the Network Journals top business professionals of 2010 and some of her studies have been at Howard University and Columbia University. Denalerie, a honors graduate, with a B.S. in Psychology/Business Management and a B.A. in Afro-American Studies/Political Science, also holds a MA in Organizational Psychology, Ed.M. in Psychological Counseling, and certificates in Human Resources Management, Financial Accounting, and Project Management. Denalerie is currently a doctoral candidate completing her dissertation on employment discrimination and the career advancement of women. Graduating this year, her Capella University School of Leadership and Public Policy Ph.D. will be in Human Services and Non-Profit Management and will contribute to greater understanding of the limitations of the “glass ceiling”. Denalerie is a believer in “Womenomics”, which is about redefining success-building strategies and being vocal about what a woman of power truly is and she and her partner live in New Jersey.
