Dickie Sykes, Founder and CEO of DGS Consulting, LLC

Dickie Sykes is the Founder & CEO of DGS Consulting LLC, a management consulting firm that specializes in job interview, business presentation and public speaker training. As a business owner with a background in the corporate sector, Dickie could not sit back and do nothing while the national unemployment rate reached nearly 10% and the African-American unemployment rate reached above 17%. With the knowledge that the country was going through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and the president’s request that all Americans find ways to participate in the nation’s economic recovery, Dickie felt compelled to respond and participate. She produced an audio CD in two languages to assist Americans with job searches and the interview process.
Before starting DGS Consulting, Dickie served as Vice President of Diversity and Community Affairs for an international construction management firm in New York. Under her leadership, the company awarded over $900 million to minority and women-owned businesses. Career coaching, diversity parity and educating people in the power of their voices have been consistent themes in her life. Whether helping college students or entrepreneurs, giving lectures at local bookstores and colleges or motivating and inspiring people who have been out of the workforce for many years, Dickie has always made time to give back.
Dickie is recognized industry-wide as having passion and commitment for her work and treating clients with respect and professionalism. She was honored by way of proclamation from Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields, honored by her alma mater Queens College and named Community Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Dickie is known for helping people talk their way to the top of the business world with integrity, passion and authenticity. Recently, she won The Fit for Fall Contest sponsored by Coldwater Creek and O, The Oprah Magazine, which she appeared in as well. She has also appeared in Genesis, WE and Work Life Matters magazines. She is a featured writer for many online women’s publications and a regular guest on BlogTalkRadio.
Dickie graduated cum laude from Queens College and has a certificate in employee relations from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations. She currently attends Walden University pursuing a Masters in Psychology specializing in executive leadership and coaching.
