What did you think when you found out you won?
I was speechless. It was a very emotional moment for me. Everything me and my family had been through and things I have seen in my life was flashing through my mind and to have to this opportunity granted to me was a true blessing.
Why did you apply for the Project Working Mom scholarship?
For my personal growth. To be the leader, the hope, and the inspiration for my son and my family.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I will never forget March 31st 2009. Failure has never been an option for me, but now, there are no excuses. I plan to excel at Virginia College because I have high standards set for myself. I also want to let eLearners, The Tyra Banks Show, and Virginia College know I appreciate what they have done for me more than they could ever know.

What did you think when you found out you won?
I was speechless, and I am never speechless as a rule. I never imagined I would ever have a chance of winning.
Why did you apply for the Project Working Mom scholarship?
My sister and daughter were killed by a drunk driver at different times in my life. I raised my four kids, and my daughter's two year old daughter after she was killed. I never believed that I would ever be able to go to college. I had seen The Tyra Show reference the scholarships, and thought it is time for me to try. Thank God I did.
Anything else you'd like to add?
I want to thank eLearners and Project Working Mom for this chance of a lifetime. This scholarship will change my life. I am 53 next month, and I hope to show others that you are never too old to follow your dreams.
