Adler University

About

You believe a better world is possible, and you want to be part of it. We share your vision.

Adler University educates students to engage the world and create a more just society. Established in 1952 to build on the pioneering work of Alfred Adler, the first community psychologist, the University offers master’s and doctoral degree programs for social change. Students enroll and complete degree programs at our urban campuses in downtown Chicago and Vancouver, as well as through our 100% online Global Campus.

We offer rigorous programs and learning experiences in the classroom and around the world—all focused on advancing social justice in fields from public policy and administration, to fast-growing specialties in counseling and psychology.

Our students study in diverse local and international environments. They benefit from small classes, and close-knit program networks. Through intensive coursework and field-based training that provides real-world experience, they graduate prepared for an evolving job market and emerging fields that address ever-changing social needs—locally, nationally, and globally.

Our alumni lead social change in diverse careers, in teaching and research, private practice and consulting, business, healthcare, social services and the not-for-profit sector, and government. In our most recent alumni survey, nearly 91% of respondents report being employed within a year of graduation.

Our faculty of practitioner-educators are leaders in their fields with high academic standards. They are devoted to students’ success, as mentors inside and beyond the classroom. Academic support and coaching, professional development seminars, active alumni networking, and dozens of student organizations provide additional support for our students.

Our average class size is around 11 students. We offer traditional classroom programs with full- and part-time options, and weekday, evening, and weekend classes.

Recognized nationally and internationally for our mission-driven curricula, Adler University partners with more than 850 organizations enabling students to gain real-world experience through intensive practica and internships. Our own Institutes and Centers also offer unique learning experience for students in research, community outreach, and professional development.

Adler University has been awarded the Community Engagement Classification by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. The esteemed classification recognizes institutions with excellent alignment among campus mission, culture, leadership, resources, and practices of exemplary community engagement.

A not-for-profit institution, Adler University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
