HBU Colleges & Schools

Houston Baptist University offers its undergraduate and graduate degree programs through several designated colleges and schools. Each college may be comprised of one or several academic departments, and may offer a range of programs at various undergraduate and graduate degree levels.

Archie W. Dunham College of Business

The Archie W. Dunham College of Business is dedicated to helping their students hone leadership skills, empowering them not just to lead their organizations but also to make an impact on their communities. They offer five undergraduate majors and four master’s degree programs.

The Archie W. Dunham College of Business incorporates two departments:

School of Christian Thought

The School of Christian Thought is the home to HBU’s religious degree programs. Each of these is taught from a Christian perspective, though they range in approach from research and scholarship oriented to ones focused on practical application within the church or community. Three departments are housed within the School of Christian Thought:

College of Education and Behavioral Sciences

The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences offers bachelors, masters, and doctoral programs in in subjects related to Education and Psychology. It’s made up of two schools and four departments.

Newly established in September 2017, the College of Engineering is one of the only colleges at HBU not comprised of several departments. Starting in the Fall 2018 semester, they offer undergraduate programs in Cyber Engineering, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering.

School of Fine Arts

The School of Fine Arts at HBU is dedicated to helping students hone their creative expression and prepare for professional careers using those skills. They offer both undergraduate and graduate programs, with and course options in music, visual arts, writing, film, and mass media.

School of Humanities

This school also houses the Honors College.

School of Nursing and Allied Health

The School of Nursing and Allied Health at Houston Baptist University is one of the larger schools in terms of enrollment. In fact, nursing and kinesiology account for about a third of all enrollment. The school offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs, in both online and campus-based formats.

The School of Nursing and Allied health includes the Department of Undergraduate Nursing and the Department of Kinesiology.

College of Science and Mathematics

The College of Science and Mathematics (COSM) unites a range of STEM fields, including biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, and more. The school offers both undergraduate and pre-professional programs, many of which are designed to help students prepare for graduate study.
