Regis College


Regis College is a private university in Weston, Massachusetts, outside Boston. In their programs, students could earn degrees and certificates ranging from associate to doctorate. In addition to their campus offerings, Regis College online offers some degree programs fully online, particularly at the graduate level.

Who Is Regis College?

Founded in 1927, Regis was originally a women’s college, only becoming co-ed in 2007. Regis College is also Roman Catholic, affiliated with the Sisters of St. Joseph. The school was even named for Reverend Mother Mary Regis Casserly, who founded the order. While the Catholic heritage is strong, Regis accepts students of all faiths and backgrounds, dedicating themselves to providing an effective, professional, and community-focused education for all students—one that, in accordance to their liberal arts orientation, develops the whole person.

Regis College Online Academics

Regis College offers its degree and certificate programs through several different schools, which each cover a specific family of disciplines. Those schools are:

  • The School of Arts and Sciences: The broadest of the schools at Regis College, this is the home of undergraduate and graduate programs in diverse fields like English, Biology, Mathematics, Education, Pre-Law, and more. These programs emphasize communication and creative problem solving, and offer degrees from bachelors to doctorate.
  • The School of Business & Communication: Focusing on developing professional skills and leadership, the School of Business and Communication offers its students experiences like mentorship and internship opportunities. Undergraduate and masters programs are available in fields like management, accounting, communication, and more.
  • The School of Nursing: Regis offers nursing programs oriented both toward new nurses eager to take their first steps into healthcare, and professional nurses who want to expand their care and hone their skills. As such, nursing programs may be offered either online or on campus, with a range of potential experiences. They even offer second bachelors degree programs for students who have already graduated with another unrelated degree, but who would like to move into nursing.

Areas of potential study are diverse, and include areas like health and fitness, neuroscience, psychology, counseling, healthcare administration, and more.

But those aren’t the only places that Regis students could get their education. For example, Regis also enables local students to register for courses at several nearby schools, including Babson, Bentley, and Boston College. Additionally, Regis offers international study opportunities, and could potentially help interested students find clinical experiences and internships to put their new skills into guided practice.

Applying to Regis

Think you might want to attend Regis? If so, they strive to make the application process as straightforward as possible. That said, the specific requirements may vary by degree level and area of study, among other things.

To apply as an undergraduate, you may need to demonstrate success in the following:

  • Academic performance at the secondary level, especially in designated subject areas. If possible, AP and International Baccalaureate courses may be ideal
  • Leadership qualities and experience, such as in extracurricular activities or on the job
  • Effective writing demonstrated in the application essay and/or other writing samples
  • Letters of recommendation from teachers and counselors

Additionally, you may wish to schedule an interview with your admissions representative, and submit your SAT or ACT test scores. That said, neither of those are required, unless your program in particular specifies, so the choice is yours. If you’re applying to a graduate program, make sure you follow up with that program to learn its unique requirements. Additionally, if you were home-schooled rather than attending a typical high school, you may have unique application requirements.

Regis Financial Aid

Regis accepts students to its programs on merit, regardless of their financial situation. As such, they make efforts to ensure students are able to access the resources they need to fund their education. Students may be eligible for a variety of need-based aid opportunities administered through their FAFSA, including state and federal grants, loans, and work study.

However, that’s not all. Regis also automatically considers accepted students for any merit scholarships they may qualify for. Many of these scholarships may even roll over for up to four years, provided that your performance meets the renewal requirements.
