The mission of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is to extend the resources of Northwestern University to students whose lives include significant professional and personal commitments that place limitations on their schedules and affect the pace at which they may achieve their educational goals. Consistent with Northwestern's dedication to excellence, SCS makes distinguished teaching available to nontraditional students and, to the greatest extent possible, provides access to the University's other resources, such as libraries, laboratories, recreational facilities, and events. The primary goal is to become a lifelong educational partner for both alumni and friends of Northwestern University.
Graduate Degree via Distance Learning
An online degree program designed for working professionals.
The master of science in medical informatics (MMI) is offered in a distance learning format completely online, presenting an opportunity to study this field from virtually any location in the world. Designed with the working professional in mind, the online option for the MMI program parallels its campus-based counterpart in every way, providing the same curriculum designed and taught by Northwestern faculty. The MMI program is geared for completion within two to three years of part-time study.
The MMI program is designed to:
