The University
Fort Hays State University is celebrating a century of excellence in education. Founded in 1902, FHSU has developed a reputation for excellent teaching, academic research and community partnerships with the people of Kansas and beyond. Today, FHSU serves over 4500 on-campus students and over 4620 distance education students throughout the world. Virtual College
The Virtual College works in partnership with the Fort Hays State University faculty members to market and distribute 500 course offerings to students throughout the world. The Virtual College provides FHSU distance education opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing affordable excellence in undergraduate and masters degree programs. We also seek to serve the life-long learning needs of our alumni, the military and others in need of a quality, affordable education. 

Fort Hays State University's Virtual College is committed to advancing its distance learning offerings. From complete distance delivery degree programs, like the Bachelor of General Studies and Master of Liberal Studies degrees, to Cisco certification and professional development courses for teachers, you will find something to meet your needs.

Faculty
Faculty members who teach the courses offered through the Virtual College are the same highly credentialed, full-time faculty members as those teaching courses on campus. Many faculty members hold doctorates or terminal degrees in their respective fields. Some undergraduate courses may be taught by graduate teaching assistants or qualified adjunct faculty members under the supervision of doctorate-holding faculty. FHSU prides itself on a 17-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio. 

Delivery Media
The Virtual College delivers distance learning coursework through asynchronous and synchronous modes. Asynchronous delivery (anytime/any place) includes: the Internet, videotapes, audiotapes, and CD-ROMs. Synchronous delivery (same time/different locations) includes: interactive television (ITV), Telenet2 in Kansas, face-to-face, independent study, and specially arranged delivery.

Virtual College courses provide students with a great deal of interaction with the faculty through e-mail, chatrooms, telephone, fax, and regular mail. Courses include readings in leading textbooks and study manuals, exercises, simulations, online discussions, live chats, videos and other appropriate learning activities.

Students are encourged to work with the University's Financial Aid office to obtain information on different programs available.

Registration Details:
Apply for admission online. Domestic application fee for Graduate School will be $35.00. Non-degree graduate students are not required to pay an application fee. Submit copies of your academic and/or military transcripts to the FHSU Registrar's Office.
