School of Education

The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership at Walden University

Today's educators face unprecedented challenges—teacher and administrator shortages, decreased funding for public education, changing demographics of families, and expanding populations of children with special needs. Walden's programs are designed to give educational leaders the skills and confidence to face these pressing issues and make a difference in the communities they serve.

School of Health & Human Services

Health and Human Services prepares scholar-practitioners to serve at the forefront of the design and delivery of cutting-edge public and private services. Utilizing an array of practice-oriented theories and qualitative and quantitative research strategies, our graduates are able to assess the effectiveness of existing health and human services programs, and, when necessary, make timely changes to them, or develop new ones that respond to the diverse needs of society's most vulnerable citizens.

School of Management

Global competition, a rapidly evolving and knowledge-based economy, and a more diverse workforce place unprecedented demands on today's managers, policymakers, and administrators. Forward-thinking and effective leaders expecting to succeed in this environment understand the need for continuous learning. Walden's degree programs in business, management, and administration are results-oriented and designed to offer busy professionals an understanding of leading-edge, 21st century management practices. Walden's programs are designed to advance the knowledge and practices of management and leadership with a solid grounding in business, management, and administrative disciplines and with the latest best practices from the workforce.

School of Psychology

Helping people cope in trying times. Promoting productivity and performance in a global workplace. Helping people maintain their health and sense of well-being throughout their lifespan. These are just a few of the challenges you are likely to face as a professional in the field of psychology. Walden's graduate programs in psychology are designed to help students meet the increasingly complex needs of diverse individuals, groups, and organizations.

School of Public Policy & Administration

Today's complex government system demands leaders who can continually manage at the boundaries of the public and private sectors. Walden University's public policy and administration programs are designed to give motivated professionals the practical knowledge and proven skills they need to unite their organizations with the three sectors—government, businesses, and nonprofits—for more effective, innovative community solutions.

Center for Undergraduate Studies

The Center for Undergraduate Studies is your connection to the world of higher education and to the experience of learning in a 21st century online classroom. It is the home of Walden’s general education core courses and the B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies program. And it is your link to online student-life programs that prepare you for your major and your career.

Residency Requirements

Doctoral programs at Walden University require 20 units of academic residency, and some master's programs have specific courses and specializations with residency requirements. Students enrolled in Doctoral programs must attend an initial residency within the first three quarters of starting their program and attend a core summer residency within two years. Experience has shown that new students are best served by attending the first academic residency available after they have enrolled. Students may earn their remaining residency units at times and locations that are most convenient to them.

These face-to-face sessions allow students to work together with faculty members and academic staff in a variety of activities, such as plenaries, seminars, colloquia, individual advising and classroom instruction. Residencies are held throughout the year at locations across the United States.

Accreditation

Walden University is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (30 North LaSalle, Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602-2504; 800-621-7440).

Walden University's M.S. program in Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), a national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate and graduate education programs in preparing effective nurses. For students, accreditation signifies program innovation and continuous self-assessment. Graduates recognize that, as they seek new positions or entry into doctoral programs, accreditation is valued and may be required.
