Keiser University’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology is designed to prepare students for graduate level training in a variety of disciplines along with entry level work in a host of disparate fields. This is a broad-spectrum program that introduces students to the general study of the field of psychology.
The Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology offers a diverse curriculum that provides a broad-based education in many facets of behavior, mental processes, communication, research, and writing. Courses include forensics, sports and positive psychology, as well as the traditional courses needed to prepare students for graduate studies. Students may select from four tracks/concentrations within the major (Human Services, Developmental Psychology, Health Care/Fitness, and Business). Student learning objectives include the application of scientific method and the ethical treatment of human and animal research subjects.
Keiser University’s Associate of Arts degree in Accounting focuses on entry-level accounting skills needed in today’s business environment. The program provides a basic understanding of essential business skills and addresses unique skills needed by an accounting clerk. Accounting topics include: federal taxation, financial accounting and the use of accounting software.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography presents an integration of didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences. The program prepares students to function as entry-level diagnostic medical sonographers.
Sonographers are highly skilled professionals qualified to provide patient services using diagnostic techniques under the supervision of a licensed doctor of medicine or osteopathy and assist physicians in gathering data necessary to reach diagnostic decisions. Students taking the general concentration are prepared as competent entry-level general sonographers.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Information Technology prepares students for an entry-level position in the field of network administration with an emphasis on security support. Courses prepare students to sit for industry-accepted competency examinations.
The Information Technology and Programming (ITP) program is a cross between Information Technology (IT) and Programming. The program will focus on multiple computer-based systems and programming languages. The program will also introduce students to cloud technology, mobile technology integration, programming, computer hacking concepts, and datacenter level operating systems. Courses prepare students to sit for industry-accepted competency examinations.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapist Assistant prepares students for employment as a skilled licensed health care worker under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. A Physical Therapist Assistant assists in the management of conditions such as arthritis, amputation, fractures, cerebrovascular accident (stroke), spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, wounds, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, cardiac and pulmonary pathology, sport injuries, work injuries and other types of injuries and/or pathologies.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Radiologic Technology prepares students for entry-level positions in the profession, producing radiographic images in accordance with standardized practices and procedures. The program provides radiologic information including medical terminology, patient care, radiographic procedures, radiation protection, equipment operations and image production and evaluation.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science in Video Game Design presents the processes and skills required to perform game design and development. Students are immersed in creative and conceptual areas such as character development, 3-D modeling and animation, game documentation, game balance, interactive story telling and interface development.
Keiser University’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration prepares students for a career in business. Students are offered a well-rounded business education with management, marketing, finance, accounting, statistics and law courses. In addition, students select one of six concentrations: Management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Marketing, Finance, or Transportation and Logistics. These concentrations allow students to specialize in a business discipline and enhance their career opportunities within that field.
Keiser University’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Services Administration provides a basic understanding of health services administration and of the unique skills needed by a health service administrator. Topics include coding and billing, public and private healthcare and financial and legal issues in healthcare.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences program prepares students for entry into health sciences and analytical/research laboratories. Graduates possess the skills to perform in a variety of science related positions in health departments, zoos, clinical and environmental chemistry, pharmaceutics, and laboratories. Graduates of the program will have completed the prerequisites necessary to be successful in graduate programs in the sciences as well as a multitude of professional programs such as occupational and physical therapy, dentistry, pharmacy, and physician assistant programs. However, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences can also be a terminal program for individuals who wish to work in laboratory settings and other occupations.
Program Description: Keiser University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Imaging Science is a completion program for graduates of associate of science programs in Radiology Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiation Therapy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or Medical Sonography. The Bachelor of Science degree in Imaging Sciences expands the technologists’ technological, administrative, and clinical knowledge, and provides the educational foundation for advanced certifications and career advancement. Students choose from concentrations in either imaging management or an advanced modality concentration. The choice of imaging modality concentrations include radiology, nuclear medicine, diagnostic vascular sonography, or clinical imaging depending upon the student’s area of interest and career pathway.
Keiser University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology Management is designed as a completion program for graduates of associate of science programs in computer-related fields. It prepares computer technicians as information technology professionals, supervisors or managers.
Keiser University’s Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems is the study of the uses of computers in business. Students study both business and information technology and learn how to solve business problems using hardware, operating systems, networking, programming and database management. Students learn to use technology as a key business driver to manage corporate information technology resources. During the application and management components of the program, students work in groups with community organizations to develop actual project experience.
The Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is offered for students beginning their first professional nursing program. Depending on the campus, students in this program of professional nursing study may attend in either the Fall/Spring semesters only or year round, for eight semesters. Graduates will be prepared to provide compassionate, patient-centered, culturally competent nursing care to individuals, families, groups, communities, and populations in a variety of settings, using evidence-based knowledge and skills related to wellness, health promotion, illness, disease management, and end-of-life care to improve healthcare outcomes. They will practice in partnership with patients as members and leaders of interprofessional healthcare teams, utilizing the most current healthcare technologies. Successful completion of this program qualifies graduates to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam. Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Histotechnology prepares students to work as histotechnicians in a variety of anatomic pathology laboratory settings. The Histotechnology program is designed to develop technical and intellectual skills as well as developing individuals with a commitment to quality patient care, a passion for the profession, and continued growth within the field. Students learn the core requirements of histotechnology including the processing and embedding of surgically removed anatomic specimens and microtomy. Students will master routine and special staining techniques that make it possible to distinguish tissue components through microscopic examination. Histotechnicians have numerous choices of practice settings: hospitals, for-profit laboratories, clinics, public health facilities, industrial research, veterinary pathology, marine biology and forensic pathology. Specialized areas include electronic microscopy and immunohistochemistry.
Keiser University's Master of Accountancy degree was developed with professional certification in mind, focusing on the theories and practices of accounting. The program prepares accounting professionals to demonstrate an understanding of accounting responsibilities, ethical standards related to business and the accounting profession, and the role accounting plays in business organizations and society. The Master of Science in Psychology degree is a research based program focused on career advancement in teaching, consulting, or administration. The program culminates in a master’s thesis, which builds upon the foundation of information learned in the coursework. Graduates demonstrate a conceptual understanding of advanced psychology and contribute intellectually to the field.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology instructs students in the use of radioactive material to visualize, diagnose and treat pathology through proper utilization of specialized equipment and techniques. The program prepares students to attend patients, extract and evaluate data from patient records, perform dose calculations, prepare radiopharmaceuticals, perform in-vivo and in-vitro diagnostic studies and perform related quality control and quality assurance procedures. Courses include radiation safety, storage and disposal of radioactive materials and inventory and control of radiopharmacology. The program provides entry-level lectures in positron imaging tomography (PET). Graduates are eligible to sit for certification examinations given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N) and the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Radiation Therapy is dedicated to preparing its students to become professional radiation therapists. Students will learn to utilize radiation and radioactive isotopes in the treatment of disease, primarily cancer. Radiation therapists are highly skilled members of the cancer management team and responsible for accurately recording, interpreting and administering the treatment prescribed by radiation oncologists. Students will learn how to localize tumors, implement treatment plans and evaluate the clinical progress of patients. Keiser University’s Associate of Arts degree in Hospitality will prepare students with competencies in the areas of sales, financial management, food and beverage sales and safety, facilities maintenance and housekeeping, as well as general accounting tailored to the hotel and resort industry. Course work will focus on the business aspects of hospitality operations and incorporates externships to solidify skills.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science in Graphic Arts and Design teaches visual communication and computer design skills with an emphasis on multimedia and online delivery. Graphic designers and multimedia practitioners create and deliver communication solutions for clients in a variety of mediums. Although print skills are still a foundation of design, employers and clients expect today's designer to be competent in web communications, video production, and newer technologies that are just now beginning to emerge. Successful candidates do not need to have existing art or computer skills. Opportunities exist in design and multimedia for artists, technicians, problem-solvers, and good communicators.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Surgical Technology provides students with the technical ability, knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment as a member of a healthcare team in hospital or surgical center operating rooms. Students receive instruction in essentials of healthcare, surgical instrumentation, anatomy, physiology, medical language and pharmacology. Graduates are prepared for employment as a surgical technologist. A degree is awarded upon successful completion of this program.
Keiser University’s Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Analytics prepares students for a career in Business Analytics, also known as Business Intelligence. Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Medical Administrative Billing and Coding prepares students to assign accurate medical codes for diagnostic procedures and other services offered by healthcare practitioners. Students will learn various clerical and administrative functions that relate to insurance claims, compliance, and reimbursement.
Keiser University’s Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting Science prepares students to perform various clinical duties including taking patient histories, measuring vital signs, assisting physicians with examinations, giving injections as directed by the physician, venipuncture, performing CLIA waived laboratory tests, and performing electrocardiograms (ECG). In addition, students will learn clerical and administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining patient records, and preparing insurance claims.
The Keiser University Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications prepares students for careers in the fields of marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, social media technology and its applications, and management. Students are offered courses in management, marketing, public relations, social media technology/applications, and communications in order to learn key concepts for ethical decision making and other marketing/communication elements. Students will also learn to apply marketing and communication theories and practices in the workplace, both locally and globally.
Keiser University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (ABSN) is a pre-licensure degree program for those wishing to complete a program of study in professional nursing. At the conclusion of the program, graduates will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) and will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensing exam to become licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse. This program offers an accelerated format that allows students with previous college level work to complete the program of study in four semesters (after general education credits are evaluated and completed). The program emphasizes the Registered Nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary health care team and a member of the discipline of nursing. Coursework in this program provides students with a framework of knowledge on the caring principles and emphasize critical thinking, leadership, management, evidenced-based practice, health promotion and illness prevention, and physical assessment.
