eLearners.com's "Recession & Your Education" Section Helps Working Adults Improve Their Personal Marketability During Trying Times
New Section Answers Top Questions About the Recession, Including How to Recession-Proof a Career
Hoboken, NJ (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) Jan 22, 2009 eLearners.com, a leading Web site that connects students with online education, today announced its new "Recession & Your Education" section to help recession-proof careers as more jobs are on the line. The comprehensive section is located at http://www.elearners.com/recession/.
As our economy continues to struggle, the numbers released from the U.S. Department of Labor are grim. The number of people without a job increased to 11.1 million in December 2008, pushing the unemployment rate to 7.2 percent. The numbers are even more troubling for high school graduates with no college education. For those individuals, the unemployment rate reached 7.7 percent. However, for people with some college and even a bachelor's degree, there is a silver lining. The Labor Department shows that the unemployment rate for people with at least a bachelor's degree was 3.7 percent; that's four percentage points lower than those with no college training.
"These numbers speak loud and clear. If you have a college degree you are more likely to ride through these tough times without losing your job," said Terrence Thomas, EVP Marketing Operations for EducationDynamics, the parent company of eLearners.com. "A college degree has never been more valuable than it is today. Although very few jobs are ever completely recession-proof, the jobs that require at least a bachelor's degree are weathering this storm better than others."
eLearners.com's "Recession & Your Education" site is an easy-to-navigate and in-depth resource offering information covering all facets of the recession. Featured topics include:

"Economists predict that the recession we're in may last for two more years, so it's important to start planning now to make sure you have the skills and knowledge to stand out in the workforce," continued Thomas. "We have compiled some of the most common questions about the recession into one resource to help people stay and/or get ahead, even during very difficult times."
In addition to the new "Recession & Your Education" section, eLearners.com also offers other helpful resources for prospective online learners.
