eLearners.com Launches "eLearners Index" to Track the Most Sought-After Online Degree Programs

(Hoboken, N.J.) April 29, 2004 – eLearners.com Inc., creator of the leading website for connecting learners to online education, has announced the launch of the eLearners IndexTM, which tracks the popularity of online degree programs. The index reflects statistical data on the activities of visitors to the eLearners.com® website, including the site areas they view, and the programs that generate the highest number of inquiries by prospective students. The eLearners Index provides rankings by academic subject and degree level, as well as other information including overall program demand and unmet demand opportunities.

"With over 3 million visitors annually, we get a pretty clear picture of the supply and demand of learning opportunities," said C.J. DeSantis, president of eLearners. "Tracking these types of trends and insights can be extremely useful to education providers as they determine where to direct their development and marketing dollars to stay competitive."

eLearners recently published the Index for the first quarter of 2004, based on 750,000 unique visitors to the eLearners.com website. The top 10 online degree subjects were:

  1. Business Administration and MBA
  2. Psychology
  3. Nursing
  4. Engineering
  5. K12 Education
  6. General Studies/Liberal Arts
  7. Information Systems and Technology
  8. Criminal Justice
  9. Health Administration
  10. Business Specialties - Management

"Business Administration continues to lead the pack, with a slightly higher ranking of master's level interest over bachelor's," said DeSantis, adding "but business administration is where we also see the most competition between schools". In the number two subject of psychology, there was "more interest at the bachelor's level, despite the fact that more programs are available at the master's level." One of the most interesting trends overall described by Mr. DeSantis, "is the increasing demand for associate's degrees, which overtook bachelor's for the top position in the measure of inquiries per listing on our site."

Accredited higher education institutions, and qualified entities engaged in market research, can request more information about the eLearners Index online at: www.elearnersindex.com. The second quarter 2004 version of the eLearners Index is scheduled to be published in July.
