Careers in project management continue to grow

Professionals who are interested in adding to their resume and improve their career prospects often turn to MBA programs. These courses of study often provide relevant training in some of the most sought-after careers fields in business.

For example, Brenau University in Gainsville, Georgia, recently added a concentration in project management to its MBA program. School officials said that this field is expected to produce many jobs in the near future, and students who complete the program may have many job prospects.

"The [project management degree] is a significant and exciting development for our fledgling program," said John R. Adams, lead professor in the program. "Projecting management skills, including the ability to effectively execute projects and identify and manage project risks will be some of the most sought-after skills over the next five years."

Reflecting the growth of jobs in this field, membership in the Project Management Institute has more than quadrupled in the past six years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Individuals who earn MBA degrees in this field may be well qualified to pursue similar jobs.
