The specialized classes have been designed to provide practical learning experiences for those wishing to pursue a career in athletic administration. The courses have been designed in consultation with the NCAA to provide the fundamental skills necessary to function effectively in an intercollegiate athletic department.

The emphasis of the MS in Sport Management Studies offered by California University of Pennsylvania is on preparing students for positions of management and leadership within the sport industry. The program recognizes the need for developing the student's capacity to solve many problems arising from ever-changing economic difficulties, political and regulatory conditions, and marketing strategies.
