In fact, I would say that in my online learning, I felt my instructors commented more on my work than in a traditional class setting. I liked the feedback. My writing skills have been greatly enhanced with online learning. There is this wonderful self-directed learning aspect that takes online learning to another level; you feel empowered and that's great.

Since you've enjoyed online education so much, are there plans to pursue another degree online after this?

Actually, I just took my first graduate course and it was on-campus as opposed to online. I wanted to see which way I prefer to learn. As of now, I am undecided on which way I will go.

When it's all said and done, how much did your degree cost you, and how are you paying?

I only borrowed for two semesters with a student loan. It was affordable and I paid all the other semesters out of my own salary as I went. Being an in-state student kept my costs down. Also, I did not have as many text books to purchase, as much of the curriculum is online. The cost is about $2,000 per semester for full-time—12 credit hours.

What would you say is the best thing about distance learning?

It offered me so much flexibility with the coursework. For me, this is essential because I'm a full-time working adult. You can work hard, finish up a section and move on to the next. I like this aspect of online learning, as I was able to manage my studies so I could have free time with my family.

Everything is there right in front of you on the website: you know what is going to be required of you. This was reassuring for me when I first entered the program after being away from college for so many years.
