Online Degree Experience at Concordia University-Saint Paul

Distance education, or online classes, share the same objectives and quality instruction as our degree programs and traditional "on-campus" classes; distance courses have the same requirements and usually the same assignments.
Many Concordia University online classes require a 45-minute "class meeting chat" each week. This will be a live, online, group discussion of course content. These chats are always on the same evening at the same time each week. Discussion boards are also integral components of online classes, and provide platforms for students to share information and refine their thoughts while gaining knowledge on a topic. Concordia's online learners use the WebCT internet tool.
Some online classes do not have required chat times but use the chat feature for instructor office hours. During this time instructors aid student comprehension by answering questions and clarify course content. Instructor online office hours are arranged by students and instructor and are not mandatory attendance.
Accelerated Online Degree program
Intensive courses are offered at an accelerated pace and provide students with an in-depth learning experience. Classes may run for four to eight weeks, depending on the credit value, instead of the traditional 14 week semester length course. Concordia also understands that there are students who are more independent, who are ready to begin their coursework immediately, and who are prepared to begin coursework without a face-to-face orientation. These students can receive individualized training and counseling from student advisors by phone or online, so that they can begin their coursework without travel and delay. Many students find that having a touch point and ready access to an advisor for information and guidance is all the support they need to set them on the track to a successful learning experience.
Concordia University-Wisconsin

Mission Statement
Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) is a Lutheran higher education community committed to helping students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and in the world.
Academics at Concordia University Wisconsin
Concordia University provides a variety of educational opportunities for students who are preparing for vocations in the ministry of the church and for various professional and business careers in the community. The program of studies emphasizes a liberal arts curriculum and course offerings providing educational experiences that cultivate personal and vocational skills. The total program is centered in the Christian philosophy with a confessional Lutheran emphasis. It is governed by sound educational standards and is focused on the spiritual, academic, social, and physical development of students.

What can students expect from the CUW experience?
The Lutheran Church (and the Reformation) started when a German professor sought discussion about issues of faith. So the search for truth is an important one on Concordia's campuses. It isn't just about preparing for a job or a career (as important as that is); a education at CUW means that students will be challenged with large, difficult questions. It also means that CUW prepares students to answer those questions in their search for life's truth.
