The United States Sports Academy Online has a campus in Daphne, Alabama, a small city deep in the southwest corner of the state. The school was founded in 1972 to fulfill the needs and demands for sports education across subjects and areas. Today, it is a 4-year, private, not-for-profit institution that offers online and on-campus programming in areas such as sports management, sports training, and sports science.
In the fall 2016 semester, 210 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs devoted entirely to the sports field and industry. Students’ classes had a 6-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio and benefitted from the professional and academic knowledge of 6 full-time professors and 18 part-time professors.i
United States Sports Academy Programs and Majors
The United States Sports Academy offers three primary degrees: a Bachelor of Sports Science, a Master of Sports Science, and a Doctor of Education in Sports Management. Through these programs, the schools offers numerous majors.ii
- Students earning bachelor’s degrees can major in Sports Coaching, Sports Strength and Conditioning, Sports Management, and Sports Studies.
- Those pursuing master’s degrees can do so in Sports Coaching, Sports Health and Fitness, Sports Management, Sports Studies, Recreation Management, or multiple subjects.
- Doctoral students do not have options for different majors in their program.
During 2015-2016 school year, the United States Sports Academy conferred 19 bachelor’s degrees, 68 master’s degrees, and 21 doctorate degrees.i

United States Sports Academy Online
The United States Sports Academy Online offers all of its programs online. In fall 2016, one-hundred percent of the school’s students enrolled entirely in online education. Seventy-three percent of those students attended classes part-time and 27 percent did so full-time.i
United States Sports Academy Tuition
For tuition in the 2016-2017 school year, undergraduate students at the US Sports Academy paid an estimated $14,220 plus an estimated $1,200 in fees. Graduate students at the school paid an estimated $16,065 plus an estimated $900 in fees. These costs are per academic year and do not include living expenses, books, or supplies.i
United States Sports Academy Accreditation
The United States Sports Academy has regional accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees.iii
Additionally, the Academy was approved by the Alabama Commission on Higher Education to participate in SARA, or the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement. The Alabama Department of Post-Secondary Education has exempted the Academy from the State of Alabama Licensure requirements pursuant to Code of Alabama Title 16-46-3-1 through 9.iii
