Otherwise, Walsh University promotes academic excellence, diverse community, and close student-teacher interactions. It strives to “foster critical thinking, effective communication, spiritual growth, and personal, professional and cultural development.”i
Walsh University’s Unique History
On November 17, 1960, the seven Brothers of Christian Instruction realized their vision of turning 50 acres of alfalfa in rural OH into a college campus. They built their vision on a “foundation of faith, courage, and selfless hard work.”i To honor the patroness of the Brothers of Christian Instruction and to honor students’ spiritual needs, Walsh University built the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Chapel on campus.
Named after the Bishop of the Youngstown Diocese at the time, Most Reverend Emmer Walsh, the school originally had two majors: secondary education and business administration. It also had pre-professional programs in dentistry, medicine, and law. Today, Walsh University offers more than 60 undergraduate majors and seven graduate degrees, including one doctorate degreei
